What Gust texts, to whom, how often, and how to ask for or stop the messages.
Gust sends a small number of SMS text messages to two adult members of one family — the sailor's mother and his uncle — about an eleven-year-old's dinghy sailing out of Marina del Rey, California. It is operated by the family itself and is not offered to the public, sold, or used for marketing of any kind.
On a day he sails, up to four messages are sent:
There are no messages on days when nobody sails, and no messages about anything else — ever.
If you are one of the two people this service exists for, put your mobile number in below. Nothing is sent to a number that has not been entered here or given to the operator in person.
Consent is collected for this service only. Mobile numbers are never sold, rented, shared or disclosed to any third party, affiliate, marketer or data broker for any purpose — see the Privacy Policy, which says so in as many words.
Both current recipients asked the operator in person rather than using the form above. This is the script they were read, published here so that it can be checked rather than taken on trust:
“I can have the boat’s tracker text you when Auguste is out past the breakwater, and again when he’s back at the dock and needs collecting, and one when he’s done his safety check. It’s Gust — it’s my own system. Up to four texts on a day he sails, and none on any other day. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to stop them. Do you want them?”
A recipient may also text START to
+1 539 281 1092, the number these messages are sent from,
and will get a confirmation reply straight away.
Nobody is added any other way.
Reply STOP to any message. It takes effect immediately and
permanently unless you ask to be added back. Reply HELP for help, or
